Overwrite in gmail

The frustration of trying to overwrite a message in Gmail!

Unfortunately, Gmail doesn't allow you to overwrite a sent message. Once you've sent an email, it's considered a permanent record and can't be edited or overwritten.

However, there are a few workarounds you can try:

  1. Drafts: If you haven't sent the email yet, you can edit the draft and then send it again. To do this, go to the "Drafts" folder, find the email, and click the "Edit" button.
  2. Reply and edit: If you've already sent the email, you can reply to the original message and edit the content. This will create a new email thread, but it's a way to update the conversation.
  3. Use a third-party add-on: There are some third-party add-ons available that claim to allow you to overwrite sent emails. However, these add-ons may not work as intended and may have limitations.
  4. Use a different email client: If you're using Gmail's web interface, you might consider using a desktop email client like Microsoft Outlook or Mozilla Thunderbird, which may offer more advanced editing capabilities.

Keep in mind that Gmail's policy is to preserve the integrity of sent emails, so it's generally not possible to overwrite them. If you need to make changes to a sent email, it's usually best to reply and edit the conversation instead.
