The cost of renewing a U.S. passport by mail is as follows:
Adult Passport Book (Age 16 and older)
- Application fee: $110
- Execution fee (paid to the acceptance agent): $35
- Total fee: $145
Child Passport Book (Age 15 and younger)
- Application fee: $80
- Execution fee (paid to the acceptance agent): $35
- Total fee: $115
Passport Card (For land and sea travel only)
- Application fee: $30
- Execution fee (paid to the acceptance agent): $35
- Total fee: $65
Expedited Service
- Additional fee: $60 (total fee: $205 for an adult passport book, $175 for a child passport book, or $125 for a passport card)
Note: The application fee and execution fee are non-refundable, even if your application is denied or if you withdraw it.

You can pay the fees with a check or money order made payable to the U.S. Department of State. You can also pay with a credit or debit card, but you'll need to pay an additional fee for this service.
Renewal by Mail
To renew your passport by mail, you'll need to:
- Fill out form DS-82 (Application for a U.S. Passport by Mail) and attach a recent passport photo.
- Gather the required documents, including your current passport, proof of U.S. citizenship, and proof of identity.
- Pay the application fee and execution fee.
- Mail the application and supporting documents to the address listed on the form.
Processing times for passport renewals by mail typically take 6-8 weeks, but expedited service is available for an additional fee.
