Pensioner mail redirection
A very practical question!
If you're a pensioner (also known as a retiree or senior citizen) and you're moving to a new address, you may need to redirect your mail to your new location. Here's how you can do it:
Method 1: Online Redirection
- Go to the Royal Mail website (www.royalmail.com) and click on "Redirect a Mail" under the "Services" tab.
- Fill in the required details, including your old and new addresses, and your name.
- Choose the duration of the redirection (e.g., 3 months, 6 months, or 12 months).
- Pay the redirection fee (currently £33.95 for 12 months).
- Review and submit your application.
Method 2: Phone Redirection
- Call Royal Mail's customer service number: 03457 740 740 (Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm).
- Inform the customer service representative that you want to redirect your mail to a new address.
- Provide your old and new addresses, and your name.
- Choose the duration of the redirection.
- Pay the redirection fee over the phone using a credit or debit card.
Method 3: In-Person Redirection
- Visit your local post office or a Royal Mail Customer Service Point.
- Inform the staff that you want to redirect your mail to a new address.
- Provide your old and new addresses, and your name.
- Choose the duration of the redirection.
- Pay the redirection fee using cash, credit or debit card, or cheque.
Important Notes:
- You can only redirect mail to a UK address.
- You'll need to provide proof of identity and address if you're redirecting mail to a new address outside of the UK.
- Redirection fees are non-refundable, even if you cancel the redirection early.
- You can cancel or amend your redirection at any time by contacting Royal Mail.
Remember to update your address with your bank, credit card company, and other relevant organizations to ensure a smooth transition to your new address.
