Post.office redirect mail
The convenience of redirecting your mail!
If you're moving to a new address or need to forward your mail to a different location, you can use a mail redirect service offered by the United States Postal Service (USPS). Here's how it works:
Post Office Redirect Mail (PS Form 3575)
You can fill out PS Form 3575, also known as the "Change of Address" form, to redirect your mail to a new address. This service is available for both domestic and international mail.
How to fill out the form:
- Download and print the PS Form 3575 from the USPS website or pick one up at your local post office.
- Fill out the form with your current address and the new address where you want your mail to be forwarded.
- Specify the date you want the forwarding to start (e.g., the date you move).
- Indicate how long you want the forwarding to continue (e.g., 6 months, 1 year, etc.).
- Sign and date the form.
Where to submit the form:
- Take the completed form to your local post office or mail it to the USPS address listed on the form.
- You can also submit the form online through the USPS website, but you'll need to create an account and pay a fee.
Fees:
- The fee for a 1-year forwarding period is $1.05.
- The fee for a 3-year forwarding period is $3.15.
- There is no fee for forwarding mail for 6 months or less.
What's included in the forwarding service:
- First-class mail, including letters, postcards, and packages
- Priority Mail and Priority Mail Express
- Periodicals, such as magazines and newspapers
- Some special services, like certified mail and registered mail
What's not included:
- Express mail, which requires a separate forwarding service
- Mail sent to a post office box or a general delivery address
- Mail sent to a foreign country, which requires a separate forwarding service
Tips and reminders:
- Make sure to update your address with your bank, credit card company, and other relevant institutions.
- Notify your friends, family, and online services of your new address.
- Keep in mind that forwarding mail may take some time, so it's a good idea to update your address with online services and institutions well in advance of your move.
By using the USPS mail redirect service, you can ensure that your mail follows you to your new address, making the transition smoother and less stressful.
