Postage rate increase for metered mail

The United States Postal Service (USPS) has announced several postage rate increases for metered mail over the years. Here are some of the recent changes:

2022 Rate Increase

• Effective January 9, 2022, the USPS increased the cost of metered mail as follows:
  • 1-ounce First-Class Mail: from $0.55 to $0.60
  • 2-ounce First-Class Mail: from $0.70 to $0.75
  • 3-ounce First-Class Mail: from $0.85 to $0.90
  • 1-ounce Priority Mail: from $7.50 to $8.10
  • 2-ounce Priority Mail: from $9.50 to $10.20

2021 Rate Increase

• Effective January 24, 2021, the USPS increased the cost of metered mail as follows:
  • 1-ounce First-Class Mail: from $0.53 to $0.55
  • 2-ounce First-Class Mail: from $0.66 to $0.70
  • 3-ounce First-Class Mail: from $0.79 to $0.85
  • 1-ounce Priority Mail: from $7.35 to $7.50
  • 2-ounce Priority Mail: from $9.35 to $9.50

2020 Rate Increase

• Effective January 26, 2020, the USPS increased the cost of metered mail as follows:
  • 1-ounce First-Class Mail: from $0.50 to $0.53
  • 2-ounce First-Class Mail: from $0.65 to $0.66
  • 3-ounce First-Class Mail: from $0.78 to $0.79
  • 1-ounce Priority Mail: from $7.20 to $7.35
  • 2-ounce Priority Mail: from $9.20 to $9.35

2019 Rate Increase

• Effective January 27, 2019, the USPS increased the cost of metered mail as follows:
  • 1-ounce First-Class Mail: from $0.49 to $0.50
  • 2-ounce First-Class Mail: from $0.63 to $0.65
  • 3-ounce First-Class Mail: from $0.76 to $0.78
  • 1-ounce Priority Mail: from $7.05 to $7.20
  • 2-ounce Priority Mail: from $9.05 to $9.20
