Quarantine emails

The joys of quarantine emails!

Quarantine emails are emails that have been flagged by your email provider's spam filters as potentially malicious or suspicious. These emails are typically placed in a special folder or "quarantine" area, where they are held for a certain period of time before being automatically deleted or moved to the spam folder.

Here are some common reasons why emails might be quarantined:

  1. Spam filters: Your email provider's spam filters may flag an email as spam if it contains certain keywords, phrases, or patterns that are commonly used by spammers.
  2. Phishing attempts: Emails that appear to be phishing attempts, such as those that try to trick you into revealing sensitive information, may be quarantined.
  3. Malware or virus: Emails that contain malware or viruses may be quarantined to prevent them from infecting your device.
  4. Unsolicited commercial emails: Emails that are sent to you without your consent, such as spam or junk mail, may be quarantined.
  5. Suspicious attachments: Emails with suspicious attachments, such as executable files or files with unusual extensions, may be quarantined.

If you receive a quarantined email, you may be able to:

  1. Release the email: If you're sure the email is legitimate, you can release it from quarantine and move it to your inbox.
  2. Delete the email: If you're not sure about the email or don't recognize the sender, you can delete it to prevent any potential harm.
  3. Mark as spam: If you're sure the email is spam, you can mark it as spam to help your email provider's filters learn to recognize similar emails in the future.

To manage quarantined emails, you can usually access your email provider's quarantine folder or settings by logging into your email account and looking for a "Quarantine" or "Spam" folder. From there, you can release, delete, or mark emails as spam as needed.
