Royal Mail's redirection service allows you to redirect your mail to a new address, either temporarily or permanently, while keeping your old address active. Here's how it works:
Types of Redirection:
- Permanent Redirection: Redirect your mail to a new address permanently, usually for a minimum of 6 months.
- Temporary Redirection: Redirect your mail to a new address for a specific period, usually up to 12 months.
How to Set Up a Redirection:
- Online: Go to Royal Mail's website (www.royalmail.com) and follow the online redirection application process.
- By Phone: Call Royal Mail's customer service on 03457 740 740 (Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm).
- In Person: Visit your local Post Office and ask to set up a redirection.
What You'll Need:
- Your current address
- Your new address
- Your Royal Mail account details (if you have one)
- Proof of identity (e.g., passport, driving license)
Fees:
- Permanent Redirection: £33.00 for 6 months, £55.00 for 12 months, and £77.00 for 18 months.
- Temporary Redirection: £20.00 for 3 months, £30.00 for 6 months, and £40.00 for 12 months.
Important Notes:
- Redirections can take up to 3 working days to set up.
- You'll need to keep your old address active until the redirection is set up.
- Some types of mail, such as large or bulky items, may not be redirected.
- You can cancel or amend your redirection at any time.
