Royal mail prices increase
The joys of inflation! Royal Mail, the UK's postal service, has announced price increases for its services. Here are the details:
Effective from 24th April 2023
- First Class Mail (up to 100g): £0.85 (previously £0.76)
- Second Class Mail (up to 100g): £0.65 (previously £0.58)
- Large Letter (up to 100g): £1.15 (previously £1.04)
- Small Parcel (up to 2kg): £4.35 (previously £3.95)
- Medium Parcel (up to 10kg): £6.35 (previously £5.95)
- Large Parcel (up to 20kg): £8.35 (previously £7.95)
Other changes
- The price of Special Delivery Guaranteed by 1pm will increase to £7.50 (previously £6.95)
- The price of Special Delivery Guaranteed by 9am will increase to £11.50 (previously £10.95)
- The price of International Standard (up to 100g) will increase to £1.35 (previously £1.25)
Why are prices increasing?
Royal Mail cites rising costs, including:
- Increased fuel costs
- Higher wages and pension costs
- Increased costs of materials and supplies
- Regulatory changes, such as the introduction of a new postal services regulatory framework
