Royal mail redirection universal credit

If you're receiving Universal Credit and you're moving to a new address, you'll need to set up a Royal Mail redirection to ensure that your mail, including your Universal Credit payments, reaches you at your new address.

Here's what you need to do:

  1. Apply for a Royal Mail redirection: You can apply online, by phone, or in person at a Post Office branch. You'll need to provide your old and new addresses, as well as your name and contact details.
  2. Choose the duration: You can set up a redirection for a minimum of 6 months or up to 12 months. You can also choose to redirect mail for a specific period, such as until you've settled into your new home.
  3. Pay the fee: The cost of a Royal Mail redirection is £33 for 6 months or £55 for 12 months. You can pay by credit or debit card, or by cheque.
  4. Notify the DWP: Once you've set up your Royal Mail redirection, you'll need to notify the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) about your change of address. You can do this by:
    • Calling the Universal Credit helpline on 0800 328 4444
    • Visiting your local Jobcentre
    • Completing a change of address form and returning it to the DWP

Tips and reminders:

By setting up a Royal Mail redirection and notifying the DWP, you can ensure that your Universal Credit payments and other important mail reach you safely and efficiently at your new address.
