Settings for gmail in outlook 2016

To set up Gmail in Outlook 2016, you'll need to follow these steps:

Step 1: Add a new email account

  1. Open Outlook 2016 and click on the "File" tab.
  2. Click on "Add Account" and then select "Manual setup or additional server types".
  3. Click "Next" and then select "Internet Email" as the account type.

Step 2: Enter your Gmail account settings

  1. In the "User Information" section, enter your name and email address.
  2. In the "Server Information" section, enter the following settings:
    • "Incoming mail server" (IMAP): imap.gmail.com
    • "Outgoing mail server" (SMTP): smtp.gmail.com
    • "User Name": your Gmail address (e.g. [your_email_address]@gmail.com)
    • "Password": your Gmail password
  3. Click "More Settings" and then click on the "Outgoing Server" tab.
  4. Check the box next to "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication" and select "Use same settings as my incoming mail server".
  5. Click "OK" to close the "More Settings" window.

Step 3: Set up your Gmail account in Outlook

  1. Click "Next" to continue the setup process.
  2. Outlook will attempt to connect to your Gmail account. If everything is set up correctly, you should see a success message.
  3. Click "Finish" to complete the setup process.

Step 4: Configure your Gmail account settings in Outlook

  1. Click on the "File" tab and then click on "Account Settings".

  4. In the "More Settings" window, click on the "Advanced" tab.

Note: If you're using two-factor authentication (2FA) with your Gmail account, you may need to generate an App Password and use that instead of your regular password in Outlook.
