Skype hotmail

A blast from the past!

Skype and Hotmail are both Microsoft products, and they have a long history together.

Hotmail was one of the first free web-based email services, launched in 1996. It was acquired by Microsoft in 1997 and became a popular email service with over 100 million users.

Skype, on the other hand, was launched in 2003 as a peer-to-peer voice over internet protocol (VoIP) service. It was acquired by Microsoft in 2011 for $8.5 billion.

In 2012, Microsoft announced that it would be integrating Skype with Hotmail, allowing users to access their Hotmail accounts directly within the Skype app. This integration allowed users to send and receive emails, as well as make voice and video calls, all within the same app.

In 2013, Microsoft launched Outlook.com, a new email service that replaced Hotmail. Outlook.com integrated Skype functionality, allowing users to make voice and video calls, as well as send instant messages, directly from their email inbox.

Today, Skype is still a popular video conferencing and communication platform, and Outlook.com is Microsoft's primary email service. While Hotmail is no longer a standalone service, its legacy lives on in the form of Outlook.com and Skype.
