Stanford webmail pop3
Stanford University's webmail service is powered by Google Workspace (formerly G Suite). As such, Stanford's webmail service does not use POP3 (Post Office Protocol version 3) protocol. Instead, it uses IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) and SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) protocols to access and send emails.
Here are the settings you can use to access your Stanford webmail account using IMAP and SMTP:
IMAP Settings:
- Server: imap.stanford.edu
- Port: 993 (SSL/TLS)
- Username: Your Stanford email address (e.g., [your_name]@stanford.edu)
- Password: Your Stanford email password
SMTP Settings:
- Server: smtp.stanford.edu
- Port: 587 (TLS)
- Username: Your Stanford email address (e.g., [your_name]@stanford.edu)
- Password: Your Stanford email password
Note that you may need to configure your email client to use these settings. If you're having trouble, you can refer to Stanford's IT support resources or contact their IT department for assistance.
It's also worth noting that Stanford's webmail service has some specific requirements and restrictions, such as:
- Two-factor authentication (2FA) is required for all Stanford email accounts.
- Some features, such as large file attachments, may be limited or restricted.
- Stanford's webmail service may not be compatible with all email clients or devices.
