Stop mail usps vacation

The joys of taking a break from the mail!

To stop mail delivery from the United States Postal Service (USPS) while you're on vacation, you can follow these steps:

Online Method:

  1. Go to the USPS website (www.usps.com).
  2. Click on "Hold Mail" under the "Quick Tools" section.
  3. Sign in to your USPS account or create one if you don't have one already.
  4. Enter your address and the dates you'd like to hold your mail (start and end dates).
  5. Confirm your request.

Phone Method:

  1. Call the USPS Customer Service number at 1-800-275-8777.
  2. Tell the representative that you'd like to hold your mail while you're on vacation.
  3. Provide your address and the dates you'd like to hold your mail (start and end dates).
  4. Confirm your request.

In-Person Method:

  1. Visit your local post office.
  2. Let the postal clerk know that you'd like to hold your mail while you're on vacation.
  3. Provide your address and the dates you'd like to hold your mail (start and end dates).
  4. Confirm your request.

Note: If you're holding mail for an extended period, you may want to consider having your mail forwarded to a different address. You can do this by filling out a PS Form 3817 (Mail Forwarding Request) and submitting it to your local post office.

By stopping mail delivery, you'll prevent mail from accumulating at your mailbox while you're away. When you return, you can contact USPS to have your mail forwarded to your new location or to have it held at the post office for pickup.
