Stop us mail temporarily
You want to temporarily stop receiving mail from the United States Postal Service (USPS). Here are the steps to do so:
Option 1: Hold Mail at Your Local Post Office
- Visit your local post office and speak with a postal employee.
- Inform them that you'd like to hold your mail temporarily.
- Provide a reason for holding your mail (e.g., going out of town, vacation, etc.).
- The post office will hold your mail at their facility until you're ready to have it delivered again.
Option 2: Use the USPS Hold Mail Service
- Go to the USPS website (usps.com) and sign in to your account.
- Click on "Manage Your Account" and then "Hold Mail."
- Fill out the online form with your name, address, and the dates you'd like to hold your mail.
- Confirm your request and the USPS will hold your mail at their facility until you're ready to have it delivered again.
Option 3: Contact the USPS Customer Service
- Call the USPS customer service number at 1-800-275-8777.
- Explain to the representative that you'd like to hold your mail temporarily.
- Provide the same information as above (reason for holding mail, dates, etc.).
- The representative will assist you with holding your mail.
Remember to keep in mind that holding your mail may affect any packages or deliveries you receive, so it's a good idea to notify any relevant parties (e.g., banks, credit card companies, etc.) of your temporary mail hold.
