Sudo mail
A blast from the past!
sudo mail
is a command that allows you to read and manage your email messages using the mail
command-line email client.
When you run sudo mail
, you'll be prompted to enter your email address and password. Once authenticated, you'll be able to view, send, and manage your email messages.
Here are some basic commands you can use with mail
:

orl <message number>
: List your email messages. You can also specify a message number to view a specific message.h
orh <message number>
: View the header of a message.b
orb <message number>
: View the body of a message.d
ord <message number>
: Delete a message.r
orr <message number>
: Reply to a message.s
ors <message number>
: Send a new message.q
orq <message number>
: Quit themail

Note that sudo mail
is not the same as sudo sendmail
or sudo postfix
, which are used to manage the email server configuration. sudo mail
is a client-side command that allows you to interact with your email account.
Also, keep in mind that mail
is a text-based email client, and it may not support all the features and formatting options available in modern email clients like Gmail or Outlook.
