Here's a step-by-step guide to setting up your UNCW email account:

Step 1: Activate Your Account

  1. Go to the UNCW portal (portal.uncw.edu) and log in with your UNCW username and password.
  2. Click on the "Student" or "Employee" tab, depending on your status.
  3. Click on "Account Information" and then "Activate Your Account".
  4. Follow the prompts to activate your account.

Step 2: Set Up Your Email Account

  1. Go to the UNCW email login page (email.uncw.edu) and log in with your UNCW username and password.
  2. Click on the "Settings" icon (looks like a gear) in the top right corner of the page.
  3. Click on "Account Settings".
  4. Update your account settings as desired, such as your name, email address, and password.
  5. Click "Save Changes" to save your changes.

Step 3: Set Up Your Email Client

  1. To set up your email client (such as Outlook, Apple Mail, or Mozilla Thunderbird), you'll need to enter the following settings:
    • Server: outlook.office365.com
    • Port: 587
    • Username: your UNCW username (e.g. jsmith123)
    • Password: your UNCW password
    • Authentication: TLS or SSL
  2. Follow the instructions for your email client to set up your account.

Step 4: Set Up Your Mobile Device

  1. To set up your UNCW email account on your mobile device, follow these steps:
    • For iOS devices (iPhone, iPad): Go to Settings > Mail > Accounts > Add Account > Other > Microsoft Exchange. Enter your UNCW username and password, and select "Next".
    • For Android devices: Go to Settings > Accounts > Add account > Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync. Enter your UNCW username and password, and select "Next".
  2. Follow the prompts to set up your account.
