Unsend email mail app

The eternal quest for the "unsend" button!

Unfortunately, most email providers don't offer a built-in "unsend" feature, as emails are designed to be permanent and irrevocable. However, there are some workarounds and third-party apps that can help you retract or recall an email:

  1. Undo Send: Some email providers, like Gmail, offer an "Undo Send" feature that allows you to retract an email within a short period (usually 5-30 seconds) after sending it. To enable this feature in Gmail, go to Settings > General > Undo Send.
  2. Recall Email: Microsoft Outlook offers a "Recall This Message" feature that allows you to recall an email from the recipient's inbox. However, this feature only works if the recipient has not yet opened the email.
  3. Third-party apps: There are several third-party apps and browser extensions that claim to offer an "unsend" feature, such as:
    • Boomerang (Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo): Allows you to recall an email or schedule a send later.
    • Sanebox (Gmail, Outlook): Offers a "Recall" feature that can retract an email from the recipient's inbox.
    • Revive Old Post (Gmail): Allows you to recall an email or schedule a send later.
    • Unsend Email (Chrome extension): Claims to allow you to recall an email from the recipient's inbox.
  4. Email clients with built-in recall: Some email clients, like Microsoft Outlook and Mozilla Thunderbird, offer built-in recall features.

Please note that these workarounds and third-party apps may not always work as intended, and there are no guarantees that the email will be successfully recalled or retracted. Additionally, some email providers may have specific policies or restrictions on recalling or retracting emails.

Before using any of these methods, make sure to review your email provider's terms of service and understand any potential risks or limitations.
