Usps hold mail cancellation
The USPS Hold Mail service allows you to temporarily suspend mail delivery to your address while you're away. Here's how it works:
How to request Hold Mail:
- Go to the USPS website (usps.com) and click on "Hold Mail" under the "Mail & Ship" tab.
- Enter your address and the dates you'd like to hold your mail.
- Choose the reason for holding your mail (e.g., vacation, moving, etc.).
- Review and confirm your request.
What happens when you request Hold Mail:
- The USPS will hold your mail at your local post office for the specified dates.
- You can pick up your held mail at the post office during business hours.
- If you're unable to pick up your mail, you can have it forwarded to another address or have it returned to sender.
Fees:
- There is no fee to request Hold Mail, but you may need to pay a fee to have your mail forwarded or returned to sender.
Important notes:
- Hold Mail requests can be made up to 30 days in advance.
- You can only hold mail for a maximum of 30 days at a time.
- If you need to hold mail for an extended period, you'll need to make multiple requests.
- Hold Mail requests are not available for PO boxes or general delivery addresses.
Alternative options:
- If you're going to be away for an extended period, you may want to consider using a mail forwarding service or asking a trusted neighbor or friend to collect your mail.
- You can also use a mail holding service, like Mail Forwarding or Hold Mail, which can hold your mail for you and forward it to your desired address.
Remember to always check with your local post office for any specific requirements or restrictions on Hold Mail requests.
