Job Summary:
The Mail Handler is responsible for sorting, processing, and delivering mail and packages to customers in a timely and efficient manner. This is a physically demanding job that requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sort and process mail and packages according to USPS procedures and regulations
- Load and unload mail and packages from trucks and containers
- Use hand trucks, dollies, and other equipment to move mail and packages
- Sort and bundle mail and packages by zip code, street, and other criteria
- Use scanners and other technology to track and manage mail and packages
- Deliver mail and packages to customers, including residential and commercial addresses
- Provide excellent customer service and respond to customer inquiries
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including the mailroom and delivery area
- Follow safety procedures and protocols to prevent accidents and injuries
- Meet productivity and quality standards, including accuracy and timeliness
- Work in a team environment to achieve goals and objectives
Physical Demands:
- Lift and carry mail and packages weighing up to 70 pounds
- Stand for long periods of time and walk for extended distances
- Bend, stoop, and kneel to load and unload mail and packages
- Use hand trucks, dollies, and other equipment to move mail and packages
- Work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Ability to pass a background check and drug test
- Ability to lift and carry mail and packages weighing up to 70 pounds
- Ability to stand for long periods of time and walk for extended distances
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions
