USPS Media Mail rates are a type of discounted shipping rate offered by the United States Postal Service (USPS) for shipping books, educational materials, and other media-related items. Here are the current Media Mail rates:

  • $3.44 (up to 1 lb)
• Weight: 1-2 lbs
  • $4.44 (1-2 lbs)
• Weight: 2-3 lbs
  • $5.44 (2-3 lbs)
• Weight: 3-4 lbs
  • $6.44 (3-4 lbs)
• Weight: 4-5 lbs
  • $7.44 (4-5 lbs)
• Weight: 5-10 lbs
  • $8.44 (5-10 lbs)
• Weight: 10-15 lbs
  • $9.44 (10-15 lbs)
• Weight: 15-20 lbs
  • $10.44 (15-20 lbs)
• Weight: 20-30 lbs
  • $11.44 (20-30 lbs)
• Weight: 30-40 lbs
  • $12.44 (30-40 lbs)
• Weight: 40-50 lbs
  • $13.44 (40-50 lbs)

Additional Fees

• Fuel Surcharge: 5.5% of the total postage
• Delivery Confirmation: $0.55 (optional)
• Signature Confirmation: $2.75 (optional)

Eligibility

To qualify for Media Mail rates, your package must contain:

1. Books, including hardcover and paperback books, textbooks, and educational materials.
2. Audio and video recordings, including CDs, DVDs, and cassette tapes.
3. Printed music, including sheet music and songbooks.
4. Printed educational materials, including workbooks, study guides, and educational software.
5. Other media-related items, such as computer software, video games, and educational software.

Important Notes

• Media Mail rates do not apply to packages containing perishable items, such as food or plants.
• Media Mail rates do not apply to packages containing hazardous materials.
• Media Mail rates do not apply to packages containing items that are not eligible for Media Mail service.
