Usps vacation mail hold
The convenience of having your mail held while you're away on vacation!
The United States Postal Service (USPS) offers a service called "Vacation Hold" or "Mail Hold" that allows you to temporarily suspend mail delivery to your address while you're away. Here's how it works:
How to request a Vacation Hold:
- Go to the USPS website (www.usps.com) and click on "Hold Mail" under the "Quick Tools" section.
- Enter your address and the dates you'd like to have your mail held.
- Choose the type of mail you'd like to hold (e.g., only packages, only letters, etc.).
- Confirm your request and provide any additional information requested.
Alternative method:
- Contact your local post office and speak with a postal employee.
- Provide them with your address and the dates you'd like to have your mail held.
- They will assist you with setting up the Vacation Hold.
What happens during a Vacation Hold:
- Your mail will be held at the post office for the specified dates.
- You can pick up your held mail at the post office during business hours.
- If you're unable to pick up your mail, you can have it forwarded to another address or have it returned to sender.
Important notes:
- You can request a Vacation Hold up to 30 days in advance.
- You can only hold mail for a maximum of 30 days.
- If you have a PO box, you can't use the Vacation Hold service. Instead, you'll need to contact the post office where your PO box is located to arrange for your mail to be held.
- If you have a package delivery scheduled during your hold period, it will still be delivered to your address.
By requesting a Vacation Hold, you can ensure that your mail is safe and secure while you're away on vacation. Happy travels!
