Usps. hold mail
The convenience of holding your mail!
The United States Postal Service (USPS) offers a service called "Hold Mail" that allows you to temporarily suspend mail delivery to your address while you're away. Here's how to do it:
Online:
- Go to the USPS website (usps.com).
- Click on "Manage Your Mail" and then "Hold Mail".
- Sign in to your USPS account or create one if you don't have one.
- Enter your address and the dates you'd like to hold your mail.
- Confirm your request.
By Phone:
- Call the USPS Customer Service number at 1-800-275-8777.
- Tell the representative you'd like to hold your mail and provide your address and the dates you'd like to hold your mail.
In Person:
- Visit your local post office.
- Let the postal clerk know you'd like to hold your mail and provide your address and the dates you'd like to hold your mail.
What happens to your mail:
When you request to hold your mail, the USPS will:
- Stop delivering mail to your address for the specified period.
- Hold your mail at the local post office.
- Keep your mail safe and secure until you're ready to have it delivered again.
Important notes:
- You can hold your mail for up to 30 days.
- You'll need to provide a valid reason for holding your mail, such as being away on vacation or moving.
- If you're holding your mail for an extended period, you may need to provide additional documentation, such as a utility bill or lease agreement.
- You can't hold your mail if you have a PO box or a general delivery address.
By holding your mail, you can ensure that your mail is safe and secure while you're away, and you can pick it up when you return.
