Setting up a Vanderbilt email account! Here's a step-by-step guide to help you get started:
Step 1: Activate Your Vanderbilt Email Account
- Go to the Vanderbilt University website (www.vanderbilt.edu) and click on "MyVU" at the top right corner.
- Log in with your VUnetID and password.
- Click on "Email" from the MyVU dashboard.
- Follow the prompts to activate your email account.
Step 2: Set Up Your Email Client
You can set up your Vanderbilt email account using various email clients, such as:
- Microsoft Outlook: Download and install Microsoft Outlook from the Vanderbilt University website.
- Apple Mail: Go to System Preferences > Mail, Contacts, Calendars, and add a new account.
- Google Mail: Go to Settings > Accounts > Add account, and select "Other" > "IMAP" or "POP3".
Step 3: Configure Your Email Settings
For all email clients:
- Email Address: Use your Vanderbilt email address (e.g., [email protected]).
- Username: Use your VUnetID (e.g., jsmith123).
- Password: Use your VUnetID password.
- Server Settings:
- Incoming Mail Server: imap.vanderbilt.edu (IMAP) or pop.vanderbilt.edu (POP3).
- Outgoing Mail Server: smtp.vanderbilt.edu.
- Port Numbers: 993 (IMAP) or 110 (POP3) for incoming, and 587 (SMTP) for outgoing.
Step 4: Set Up Your Email Signature
- Log in to your Vanderbilt email account using a web browser.
- Click on the gear icon () in the top right corner, then select "Settings".
- Scroll down to the "Signature" section and enter your desired signature.
