Voice mail とは
Voice mail (ヴォイスメール) is a system that allows users to leave recorded messages for others, typically in response to a missed phone call. It's a way to communicate with someone who is not available to take a call at the moment.
Here's how it typically works:
- You call someone's phone number, but they don't answer because they're busy or not available.
- You're prompted to leave a message by pressing a key or saying a specific phrase (e.g., "Leave a message").
- You record your message, which is then stored on the voice mail system.
- The recipient can retrieve the message by accessing their voice mail account, usually by dialing a specific number or using a phone app.
Voice mail systems often have features such as:
- Greeting: A pre-recorded message that plays when you call someone's phone number.
- Message recording: You can record a message to leave for the recipient.
- Message playback: The recipient can listen to the message you left.
- Message deletion: The recipient can delete the message once they've listened to it.
- Message forwarding: The recipient can forward the message to another phone number or email address.
Voice mail is commonly used in business settings, but it's also available on many personal phone plans. Some phone apps and services, like Google Voice or Skype, offer voice mail features as well.
