What does a certified mail receipt look like
A certified mail receipt is a document that serves as proof of mailing and proof of delivery for a piece of mail. Here's what it typically looks like:
Front Side:
- The top portion of the receipt will display the following information:
- The sender's name and address
- The recipient's name and address
- The date and time of mailing
- The type of mail service used (e.g., Certified Mail, Return Receipt Requested)
- A unique tracking number, also known as a "tracking number" or " barcode", will be printed in the top right corner. This number can be used to track the status of the mail piece online.
- A barcode will also be printed on the receipt, which can be scanned to verify the delivery.
Back Side:
- The back side of the receipt will display the following information:
- A signature line for the recipient to sign upon delivery
- A space for the recipient to provide their return address (if they choose to return the receipt to the sender)
- A statement indicating that the recipient has received the mail piece and that they have signed for it
Additional Features:
- Some certified mail receipts may include additional features, such as:
- A "Restricted Delivery" indicator, which means that the mail piece can only be delivered to the recipient in person
- A "Signature Upon Delivery" indicator, which requires the recipient to sign for the mail piece upon delivery
- A "Return Receipt Requested" indicator, which allows the sender to request a return receipt from the recipient
Digital Certificates:
- In some cases, certified mail receipts may be digital, rather than physical. These digital receipts will typically be sent to the sender via email or online account, and will include a unique tracking number and a digital signature.
It's worth noting that certified mail receipts are typically only available for mail pieces that are sent using the United States Postal Service (USPS) certified mail service. Other mail services, such as private courier companies, may have their own equivalent receipt systems.
