What does ignore mean in outlook email

In Outlook, when you "ignore" an email, it means that you're telling Outlook to automatically move the email to the "Deleted Items" folder without displaying it in your inbox or any other folder. This is also known as "ignoring" or "silencing" the sender.

When you ignore an email, Outlook will:

  1. Move the email to the "Deleted Items" folder, so it's no longer visible in your inbox or any other folder.
  2. Prevent future emails from the same sender from being delivered to your inbox. Instead, they'll be automatically moved to the "Deleted Items" folder.
  3. Remove any notifications or alerts for emails from the ignored sender.

To ignore an email in Outlook:

  1. Open the email you want to ignore.
  2. Click the "Ignore" button in the "Home" tab of the ribbon.
  3. Confirm that you want to ignore the sender by clicking "Ignore" in the pop-up dialog box.

Alternatively, you can also right-click on the email and select "Ignore" from the context menu.

Note that ignoring an email only applies to the specific sender and not to the entire email address or domain. If you want to ignore all emails from a specific domain, you'll need to use a different method, such as creating a rule or using a third-party add-in.
