What is bellsouth net mail server

A blast from the past!

BellSouth NetMail was a web-based email service provided by BellSouth, a telecommunications company that was later acquired by AT&T. The service was launched in the late 1990s and was popular among individuals and small businesses in the southeastern United States, where BellSouth had a strong presence.

BellSouth NetMail allowed users to access their email accounts through a web interface, using a web browser. The service included features such as:

  1. Web-based email access: Users could access their email accounts from any internet-connected computer with a web browser.
  2. POP3 and IMAP support: Users could also access their email accounts using POP3 and IMAP protocols, which allowed them to download and manage their email using email clients like Microsoft Outlook.
  3. Spam and virus protection: BellSouth NetMail included built-in spam and virus protection to help keep users' email accounts safe.
  4. Address book and calendar: Users could manage their contacts and schedule appointments using the service's built-in address book and calendar features.

In 2011, AT&T announced that it would be discontinuing BellSouth NetMail, and users were encouraged to migrate to other email services, such as AT&T's own email service or third-party providers like Gmail or Yahoo! Mail. The BellSouth NetMail service was officially shut down in 2012.

Today, the BellSouth NetMail domain (bellsouth.net) is no longer active, and users who had accounts with the service are no longer able to access their email accounts. However, many users have migrated to other email services and continue to use them for their email needs.
