What is electric mail

A blast from the past!

"Electric Mail" was a term used in the early days of computing and telecommunications to refer to electronic mail, or email. The term was commonly used in the 1960s and 1970s, when email was still a relatively new concept.

In those days, email was often sent over phone lines or through specialized networks, such as the ARPANET (Advanced Research Projects Agency Network), which was the precursor to the modern-day internet. The term "electric mail" was used to describe the electronic transmission of messages, as opposed to traditional paper-based mail.

The term "electric mail" was also used to emphasize the speed and efficiency of electronic communication, which was a significant improvement over traditional postal mail. With electric mail, messages could be sent and received almost instantly, regardless of distance or location.

Over time, the term "email" became more widely used and eventually replaced "electric mail" as the standard term for electronic mail. Today, email is an essential part of modern communication, used by billions of people around the world.
