Whats outbox in mail

In email, the "outbox" is a folder or section where emails that you have composed and sent are stored temporarily before they are delivered to the recipient's inbox.

When you compose an email and click the "Send" button, the email is typically stored in your outbox until it is successfully delivered to the recipient's email server. This is done for a few reasons:

  1. Error handling: If there's an issue with the email, such as a typo in the recipient's email address or a problem with the email server, the email will be stored in the outbox until the issue is resolved.
  2. Delivery confirmation: Some email providers may store the email in the outbox until it is confirmed that the email has been delivered to the recipient's inbox.
  3. Backup: The outbox serves as a temporary backup of the email, in case something goes wrong with the email server or the email is accidentally deleted.

Once the email is successfully delivered to the recipient's inbox, it is typically removed from your outbox. If you need to access the email again, you can usually find it in your sent items folder or your email provider's archive.

In some email clients, such as Microsoft Outlook, the outbox is also used to store emails that are being sent in batches, such as when you're sending multiple emails at once. In this case, the outbox will store the emails until they are all successfully delivered.
