Whois e mail

The whois command!

whois is a command-line tool used to query databases that store information about domain names, IP addresses, and other internet-related data. When you run whois followed by an email address, it searches for information about the email address in various databases, such as:

  1. Domain Name System (DNS) records: whois can retrieve information about the domain name associated with the email address.
  2. Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) databases: whois can query IANA databases to retrieve information about IP addresses, domain names, and other internet-related data.
  3. Regional Internet Registries (RIRs): whois can query RIR databases to retrieve information about IP addresses, domain names, and other internet-related data.

When you run whois on an email address, it typically returns information such as:

Here's an example of how to use whois on an email address:

$ whois [email protected]

This command will search for information about the email address [email protected] and display the results.

Keep in mind that the information returned by whois may not always be accurate or up-to-date, and some databases may not respond to whois queries. Additionally, some email providers may not allow whois queries on their email addresses.
