Why gmail trim my message

Gmail, like many other email providers, has a feature to trim or shorten long messages to make them more readable and to prevent them from being cut off in the recipient's inbox. Here are some reasons why Gmail might trim your message:

  1. Character limit: Gmail has a character limit of 65,535 characters per message. If your message exceeds this limit, it will be trimmed to fit within the limit.
  2. Display limitations: Gmail displays messages in a limited width, typically around 500-600 pixels. If your message is too wide or contains too many long lines, it may be trimmed to fit within this display width.
  3. Recipient's inbox limitations: Some email providers, including Gmail, have limitations on the size of messages that can be received. If your message is too large, it may be trimmed to fit within these limitations.
  4. Spam filtering: Gmail's spam filters may trim or remove parts of your message if they detect suspicious or malicious content.
  5. HTML formatting: If your message contains complex HTML formatting, Gmail may trim or remove parts of the message to prevent formatting issues or to improve readability.

When Gmail trims your message, it will typically remove the excess content and replace it with an ellipsis (...) to indicate that the message has been shortened. You can usually see the original, untrimmed message by clicking on the "Show original" link at the bottom of the message.

To avoid having your messages trimmed, you can try the following:

  1. Keep your messages concise and to the point.
  2. Use a plain text format instead of HTML.
  3. Avoid using very long lines or paragraphs.
  4. Use a smaller font size or formatting to reduce the overall size of your message.
  5. Consider breaking up long messages into multiple emails.

Keep in mind that while Gmail's trimming feature is designed to improve the readability and delivery of your messages, it's not always possible to avoid trimming entirely.
