Win7 outlook 2015 hotmail
A blast from the past!
To set up Outlook 2015 to connect to Hotmail (now known as Outlook.com) on Windows 7, follow these steps:
Step 1: Open Outlook 2015
- Click on the Start menu and select "Outlook 2015" to open the application.
Step 2: Create a new email account
- In the Outlook 2015 window, click on "File" > "Add Account" > "Manual setup or additional server types".
- Select "Internet Email" and click "Next".
Step 3: Enter your email account settings
- In the "Internet Email Settings" window, enter the following information:
- Your Name: Enter your name as you want it to appear in the "From" field of your emails.
- Email Address: Enter your Hotmail email address (e.g., [yourname]@hotmail.com).
- Account Type: Select "POP3" or "IMAP" (IMAP is recommended for syncing your emails across devices).
- Incoming mail server: Enter "imap-mail.outlook.com" (for IMAP) or "pop3-mail.outlook.com" (for POP3).
- Outgoing mail server: Enter "smtp-mail.outlook.com".
- User Name: Enter your Hotmail email address (e.g., [yourname]@hotmail.com).
- Password: Enter your Hotmail password.
- Click "Next" to continue.
Step 4: Finish setting up your account
- In the "Add New Account" window, review your settings and click "Finish" to complete the setup process.
Step 5: Configure your account settings (optional)
- If you want to sync your Hotmail contacts and calendar with Outlook 2015, you'll need to configure your account settings. To do this:
- Click on "File" > "Account Settings" > "Account Settings" again.
- Select your Hotmail account and click "Change".
- In the "Change Account" window, select "More Settings" and then click "Next".
- In the "Internet Email Settings" window, select the "Outgoing Server" tab and check the box next to "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication".
- Click "OK" to save your changes.
That's it! Your Outlook 2015 should now be set up to connect to your Hotmail account on Windows 7.
