Windows 10 email alert sounds

The familiar sound of a Windows 10 email alert! Here are the default sounds and how to customize them:

Default Email Alert Sounds:

  1. New Mail Notification: A gentle, ascending tone (Windows 10's default sound).
  2. New Mail Notification (High Priority): A more insistent, descending tone (used for high-priority emails).

Customizing Email Alert Sounds:

  1. Change the default sound:
    • Go to Settings (Windows key + I).
    • Click on System.
    • Click on Notifications & actions.
    • Scroll down to Get notifications from these senders.
    • Click on Email.
    • Click on the Sound dropdown menu and select a new sound from the list or browse to a custom sound file.
  2. Create custom email alert sounds:
    • You can create your own custom sounds using audio editing software like Audacity (free) or Adobe Audition (paid).
    • Save your custom sound file as a WAV or MP3 file.
    • Go to the Sound settings (as described above).
    • Click on the Browse button next to the Sound dropdown menu.
    • Select your custom sound file.
  3. Assign custom sounds to specific senders:
    • Go to Settings (Windows key + I).
    • Click on System.
    • Click on Notifications & actions.
    • Scroll down to Get notifications from these senders.
    • Click on Email.
    • Click on the Sound dropdown menu next to a specific sender.
    • Select a custom sound from the list or browse to a custom sound file.
