Windows live mail 2020 to outlook 2020

A great migration!

Migrating from Windows Live Mail (WLM) to Outlook 2020 can be a bit of a process, but I'll guide you through the steps. Please note that WLM is no longer supported by Microsoft, and Outlook 2020 is a more modern and feature-rich email client.

Before you start:

  1. Backup your WLM data: Before migrating, make sure to backup your WLM data, including emails, contacts, and calendar events. You can do this by exporting your data to a PST file using the built-in export feature in WLM.
  2. Check system requirements: Ensure your computer meets the system requirements for Outlook 2020.

Migration steps:

Method 1: Manual Migration

  1. Export WLM data to PST: Open WLM, go to File > Export, and select Export to a file. Choose a location to save the file, and select OK.
  2. Import PST file to Outlook: Open Outlook 2020, go to File > Open & Export, and select Import/Export. Choose Import from another program or file, select Personal Folders File (.pst), and follow the prompts to import the PST file.
  3. Set up Outlook accounts: Create a new email account in Outlook 2020, or use an existing one. You can do this by going to File > Add Account, and following the prompts.
  4. Configure Outlook settings: Set up your Outlook settings, such as your email address, password, and account type (e.g., POP3, IMAP).

Method 2: Using the Outlook Import Tool

  1. Download and install the Outlook Import Tool: Go to the Microsoft Support website and download the Outlook Import Tool.
  2. Run the tool: Run the tool and follow the prompts to select the WLM data you want to import.
  3. Configure Outlook settings: Set up your Outlook settings, such as your email address, password, and account type (e.g., POP3, IMAP).
