  1. Email messages: WLM stores email messages in the following location:
    • %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail\Emails (Windows 7, 8, and 10)
    • %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail\Emails (Windows Vista)
  2. Settings and configuration files: WLM stores its settings and configuration files in the following location:
    • %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail (Windows 7, 8, and 10)
    • %USERPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail (Windows Vista)

    • %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail\Attachments (Windows 7, 8, and 10)
    • %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail\Attachments (Windows Vista)

To backup your WLM data, you can copy these folders to an external hard drive, cloud storage service, or another location. Here's how:

  2. Click on "Backup" and select the "Let Windows backup your files" option.
  3. Choose the folders you want to backup, including the WLM folders mentioned above.
