To add the Windows Live Mail desktop icon back, you can follow these steps:
Method 1: Using the Windows Live Essentials installer
- Download the Windows Live Essentials installer from Microsoft's website.
- Run the installer and follow the prompts to install Windows Live Essentials.
- During the installation process, you'll be given the option to install Windows Live Mail. Make sure to select this option.
- Once the installation is complete, you should see the Windows Live Mail desktop icon on your desktop.
Method 2: Manually creating a shortcut
- Open File Explorer and navigate to the following directory:
C:\Program Files\Windows Live\Mail
- Right-click on the
wlmail.exe
file and select "Create shortcut". - Name the shortcut "Windows Live Mail" or any other name you prefer.
- Right-click on the shortcut and select "Pin to Taskbar" or "Pin to Start" to add it to your taskbar or start menu.
- You can also drag and drop the shortcut to your desktop to create a desktop icon.
Method 3: Using a third-party icon pack
- Search for "Windows Live Mail icon pack" online and download a reputable icon pack.
- Extract the icon pack to a folder on your computer.
- Right-click on the extracted folder and select "Create shortcut".
- Name the shortcut "Windows Live Mail" or any other name you prefer.
- Right-click on the shortcut and select "Pin to Taskbar" or "Pin to Start" to add it to your taskbar or start menu.
