Windows Live Mail (WLM) was a popular email client developed by Microsoft, and it's still used by many people today. When you set up WLM, it stores its settings and data in the following locations:
Documents and Settings
On Windows XP and earlier versions, WLM stores its settings and data in the following folders:
- Application Data: This folder contains the WLM settings, including account settings, filters, and other customizations. The path is usually:
C:\Documents and Settings\<Your Username>\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail
- Local Settings: This folder contains the WLM data, including emails, contacts, and calendar events. The path is usually:
C:\Documents and Settings\<Your Username>\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail
AppData
On Windows Vista and later versions, WLM stores its settings and data in the following folders:
- Roaming: This folder contains the WLM settings, including account settings, filters, and other customizations. The path is usually:
C:\Users\<Your Username>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail
- Local: This folder contains the WLM data, including emails, contacts, and calendar events. The path is usually:

Important notes
- Make sure to backup your WLM data regularly to prevent loss of important emails, contacts, and calendar events.
