Yahoo email aliases

The nostalgia!

Yahoo! Mail used to offer a feature called "Aliases" or "Email Aliases" that allowed users to create multiple email addresses that forwarded to their primary Yahoo! Mail account. This feature was popular among users who wanted to create a separate email address for a specific purpose, such as a business or a project, without having to create a new email account.

Here's how it worked:

  1. Log in to your Yahoo! Mail account.
  2. Click on the "Settings" icon (represented by a gear icon) in the top right corner of the page.
  3. Click on "More Settings" from the dropdown menu.
  4. Scroll down to the "Email Aliases" section.
  5. Click on "Add an alias".
  6. Enter the new email address you want to create (e.g., [email protected]).
  7. Choose whether you want the alias to forward to your primary Yahoo! Mail account or to a different email address.
  8. Click "Save" to create the alias.

Once created, you could use the new email address to receive emails, and they would be forwarded to your primary Yahoo! Mail account. You could also use the alias to send emails from the new address, and they would be sent from your primary Yahoo! Mail account.

Unfortunately, Yahoo! Mail no longer offers this feature. In 2013, Yahoo! announced that it would be discontinuing the email alias feature, citing security concerns and the need to simplify its email service.

If you're looking for an alternative, you can consider using a third-party email service that offers alias or forwarding features, such as Google Workspace (formerly G Suite) or Microsoft 365.
