Yahoo mail going to unread folder not inbox

Frustrating!

There could be several reasons why your Yahoo Mail emails are being directed to the "Unread" folder instead of the "Inbox". Let's troubleshoot together:

  1. Check your filters: Go to Settings > Filters > Manage Filters. Look for any filters that might be moving emails to the "Unread" folder. If you find any, try deleting or modifying them to see if it resolves the issue.
  2. Verify your account settings: Ensure that your account settings are correct. Go to Settings > Account Info > Account Settings. Check that your email address, password, and account type (e.g., POP3 or IMAP) are correct.
  3. Check your email client settings: If you're using an email client like Microsoft Outlook or Mozilla Thunderbird to access your Yahoo Mail account, check the settings to ensure they're configured correctly. Make sure the "Inbox" folder is selected as the default folder.
  4. Look for spam or junk emails: Sometimes, emails might be marked as spam or junk and moved to the "Unread" folder. Check your spam or junk folder to see if any important emails are being sent there.
  5. Check for email forwarding: If you have email forwarding set up, it might be causing emails to be sent to the "Unread" folder. Go to Settings > More Settings > Forwarding and POP. Check if you have any forwarding rules set up and try disabling them temporarily.
  6. Clear browser cache and cookies: Clearing your browser cache and cookies might resolve the issue. Try closing and reopening your browser or using a different browser to access your Yahoo Mail account.
  7. Contact Yahoo Support: If none of the above steps resolve the issue, you can contact Yahoo Support for further assistance. They might be able to help you identify the root cause and provide a solution.

Remember to also check your email client or browser's settings to ensure they're not configured to move emails to the "Unread" folder by default.
