A blast from the past!

To set up AOL's incoming mail server without SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) encryption, you'll need to follow these steps:

Note: Using an unencrypted incoming mail server is not recommended, as it can compromise the security of your email account. AOL recommends using SSL/TLS encryption for all email connections.

Step 1: Check your AOL account settings

  1. Log in to your AOL account.
  2. Click on the "Account" or "Settings" icon (usually represented by a gear or a cog).
  3. Click on "Account Settings" or "Mail Settings".
  4. Look for the "Incoming Mail Server" or "POP3" settings.

Step 2: Disable SSL/TLS encryption

  1. In the "Incoming Mail Server" or "POP3" settings, look for the option to enable or disable SSL/TLS encryption.
  2. Select the option to "Disable" or "Off" SSL/TLS encryption.

Step 3: Update your email client settings

  1. Update your email client (e.g., Outlook, Thunderbird, or Apple Mail) to use the new incoming mail server settings.
  2. Set the "Incoming Mail Server" or "POP3" server name to pop.aol.com.
  3. Set the "Port" to 110 (or 995 if you're using SSL/TLS encryption).
