Aol smtp outgoing email server settings
The nostalgia!
AOL (America Online) still exists, but its email service is not as popular as it once was. However, if you still use AOL email, you may need to configure your email client to use AOL's SMTP outgoing email server settings. Here are the settings:
AOL SMTP Outgoing Email Server Settings:
- Server: smtp.aol.com
- Port: 587 (or 25, but 587 is recommended)
- Username: Your AOL email address (e.g., [email protected])
- Password: Your AOL email password
- Authentication: Required (use your AOL email address and password)
Notes:
- Make sure to enable SSL/TLS encryption when connecting to the SMTP server. You can usually do this by checking the "Use SSL/TLS" or "Use Encryption" box in your email client's settings.
- If you're using a third-party email client, you may need to configure the SMTP server settings manually. Check your email client's documentation for instructions.
- AOL recommends using the 587 port for outgoing email, as it is more secure than the traditional port 25.
- If you're having trouble sending emails, try checking your AOL account settings to ensure that your account is set up correctly and that you're not exceeding any email sending limits.
Common Email Clients and Their AOL SMTP Settings:
- Microsoft Outlook: Go to File > Account Settings > Account > More Settings > Outgoing Server > Use same settings as my incoming mail server.
- Mozilla Thunderbird: Go to Tools > Account Settings > Outgoing Server (SMTP) > Edit > Server Settings.
- Apple Mail: Go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts > [Your AOL Account] > Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP).
- Gmail: Go to Settings > Accounts and Import > Send mail as > [Your AOL Account] > SMTP Server.
Remember to replace [Your AOL Account] with your actual AOL email address.
