A common request!

In Apple Mail, you can change the account name from the email address to a more personalized or descriptive name. Here's how:

Method 1: Using the Account Settings

  1. Open Apple Mail on your Mac.
  2. Click on the "Mail" menu and select "Preferences" (or use the keyboard shortcut Command + comma).
  3. Click on the "Accounts" tab.
  4. Select the account you want to modify from the list on the left.
  5. Click on the "Account Information" tab.
  6. Click on the "Edit" button next to "Account Name".
  7. Enter the new name you want to use instead of the email address.
  8. Click "OK" to save the changes.

Method 2: Using the Account Card

  1. Open Apple Mail on your Mac.
  2. Click on the "Mail" menu and select "Show Account Card" (or use the keyboard shortcut Command + Shift + A).
  3. Select the account you want to modify from the list.
  4. Click on the "Edit" button next to the account name.
  5. Enter the new name you want to use instead of the email address.
  6. Click "OK" to save the changes.

After making the changes, the new account name will be displayed in Apple Mail, and you can use it to identify the account in your email client.

Note: The account name change only affects the display name in Apple Mail and does not affect the email address itself. The email address remains the same and is used for sending and receiving emails.
