Apple mail settings for gmail
To set up Apple Mail to work with your Gmail account, follow these steps:
Step 1: Open Apple Mail
- On your Mac, go to Applications > Mail, Contacts, Calendars, and click on Mail.
- On your iPhone or iPad, open the Mail app.
Step 2: Create a New Account
- In Apple Mail, click on "Mail" in the top menu bar and select "Preferences" (or go to Mail > Preferences on your iPhone or iPad).
- Click on "Accounts" and then click on the "+" button at the bottom left corner.
- Select "Other Mail Account" and click "Continue".
Step 3: Enter Your Gmail Account Information
- Enter your full Gmail address (e.g., [yourname]@gmail.com) in the "Full Name" and "Email Address" fields.
- Enter your Gmail password in the "Password" field.
- Click "Next" to continue.
Step 4: Configure Your Gmail Account Settings
- In the "Account Information" section, select "IMAP" as the account type.
- Enter the following settings:
- Incoming Mail Server: imap.gmail.com
- Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): smtp.gmail.com
- User Name: your Gmail address (e.g., [yourname]@gmail.com)
- Password: your Gmail password
- Click "Next" to continue.
Step 5: Verify Your Account Settings
- Apple Mail will verify your account settings. If everything is correct, you'll see a success message.
- Click "Done" to complete the setup process.
Step 6: Set Up Your Gmail Account in Apple Mail
- Go back to the Apple Mail preferences and select the "Accounts" tab.
- Select your Gmail account from the list of accounts.
- Click on the "Advanced" tab.
- In the "Incoming Mail Server" section, select "Use SSL" and set the port to 993.
- In the "Outgoing Mail Server" section, select "Use SSL" and set the port to 587.
- Click "OK" to save your changes.
That's it! Your Apple Mail should now be set up to work with your Gmail account. You can now send and receive emails using Apple Mail.
