Apple mail won't delete emails

Frustrating! Don't worry, I'm here to help you troubleshoot the issue. Here are some steps to help you delete emails in Apple Mail:

  1. Check if the email is selected: Make sure you have selected the email you want to delete by clicking on it. If you're trying to delete multiple emails, select them all by holding the Command (⌘) key while clicking on each email.
  2. Use the Delete key: Press the Delete key on your keyboard. This should move the selected email(s) to the Trash folder.
  3. Right-click (or Control-click) and select "Move to Trash": Right-click (or Control-click) on the selected email(s) and select "Move to Trash" from the context menu.
  4. Check the "Trash" folder: Ensure that the Trash folder is not full or corrupted. If the Trash folder is full, you won't be able to delete new emails. Try emptying the Trash folder by selecting all emails in the Trash folder and pressing the Delete key.
  5. Check for any filters or rules: Apple Mail might have filters or rules set up that prevent emails from being deleted. Check your Mail settings by going to Mail > Preferences > Rules and select "Edit Rules" to review your rules.
  6. Try deleting from the "All Mailboxes" view: Sometimes, deleting from the "All Mailboxes" view can help. Go to the "All Mailboxes" view by clicking on the "All Mailboxes" button at the top of the Mail window. Then, select the email(s) you want to delete and press the Delete key.
  7. Reset Apple Mail: If none of the above steps work, try resetting Apple Mail by going to Mail > Preferences > General and clicking on the "Reset" button. This will reset your Mail settings to their default values.
  8. Check for any conflicts with other apps: Sometimes, other apps might be interfering with Apple Mail's ability to delete emails. Try closing other apps that might be using the email account you're trying to delete from.
  9. Recreate the email account: If none of the above steps work, you might need to recreate the email account in Apple Mail. Go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts and select the email account you're having trouble with. Click on the "Edit" button and then click on the "Remove" button. Then, go back to the "Accounts" window and click on the "+" button to add the email account again.
  10. Contact Apple Support: If none of the above steps work, you might need to contact Apple Support for further assistance. They can help you troubleshoot the issue or provide additional guidance.

I hope these steps help you resolve the issue and delete those pesky emails!
