As of my knowledge cutoff, the IRS has started sending out the second round of Economic Impact Payments (EIPs), also known as stimulus checks, to eligible individuals and families. However, the timing and availability of the checks vary depending on several factors.
Here are some general updates:
- Direct Deposit: If you received your first stimulus check via direct deposit, you may have already received the second payment. The IRS started sending out direct deposits on December 29, 2020.
- Paper Checks: If you're receiving a paper check, it may take a few weeks to arrive. The IRS began mailing paper checks on January 8, 2021.
- Prepaid Debit Cards: Some recipients may receive their stimulus payment on a prepaid debit card, such as the RushCard or the NetSpend Prepaid Mastercard. These cards are being mailed out starting January 8, 2021.
- Check Status: You can check the status of your stimulus check on the IRS's "Get My Payment" tool on their website. This tool will show you if your payment has been sent and if it's been cashed.
Keep in mind that the IRS is processing payments in batches, so it may take some time for everyone to receive their stimulus check. If you're concerned about the status of your payment or haven't received it yet, you can contact the IRS or consult their website for more information.
