Export mailbox mac mail
To export your mailbox from Mac Mail, you can follow these steps:
Method 1: Exporting Mailbox as a.mbox File
- Open Mac Mail on your Mac.
- Select the mailbox you want to export by clicking on it in the left-hand sidebar.
- Go to File > Export > Export Mailbox.
- Choose a location to save the exported mailbox file, such as your desktop or documents folder.
- Select the format as mbox.
- Click Export to start the export process.
The exported mailbox file will be saved with a .mbox
extension.
Method 2: Exporting Mailbox as a.eml File
- Open Mac Mail on your Mac.
- Select the mailbox you want to export by clicking on it in the left-hand sidebar.
- Go to File > Export > Export Messages.
- Choose a location to save the exported messages, such as your desktop or documents folder.
- Select the format as EML.
- Click Export to start the export process.
The exported mailbox file will be saved with a .eml
extension.
Method 3: Exporting Mailbox using the Terminal
- Open the Terminal app on your Mac.
- Type the following command to export the mailbox as a
.mbox
file:mbsync -E /path/to/exported/mailbox.mbox
- Replace
/path/to/exported/mailbox.mbox
with the desired location and filename for the exported mailbox file. - Press Enter to run the command.
The exported mailbox file will be saved with a .mbox
extension.
Note: The mbsync
command is a built-in command in Mac OS X that allows you to synchronize and export your mailbox.
After exporting your mailbox, you can import it into another email client or service, such as Gmail or Outlook, using the same format.
