- Online: Go to the USPS website (usps.com) and sign in to your account. Click on "Hold Mail" and follow the prompts.
- Phone: Call the USPS Customer Service number at 1-800-275-8777 and ask to hold your mail.
- In Person: Visit your local post office and ask to hold your mail.
What You Need to Know:
- You can hold your mail for up to 30 days.
- You can hold mail for a specific date range or until a specific date.
- You'll need to provide your name, address, and a reason for holding your mail (optional).
- If you're holding mail for an extended period, you may need to provide a forwarding address.
- You can also request that your mail be held at a post office near you instead of your home address.
Benefits:
- Prevent mail theft or loss while you're away.
- Keep your mail safe from prying eyes.
- Avoid clutter and mess when you return from a trip.
- Make it easier to manage your mail when you're away for an extended period.
Tips:
- Make sure to request that your mail be held at least 3 business days before your desired hold date to ensure your mail is not delivered.
- If you're holding mail for an extended period, consider setting up a forwarding address to ensure your important mail is delivered to you.
- Don't forget to cancel your hold request when you return from your trip to ensure your mail is delivered as usual.
