Hotmail imap settings outlook
To set up Hotmail (now Outlook.com) in Outlook using IMAP, follow these steps:
Step 1: Enable IMAP in Outlook.com
- Log in to your Outlook.com account.
- Click on the gear icon in the top right corner and select "View all Outlook settings".
- Scroll down to the "Accounts" section and click on "Connected accounts".
- Toggle the switch next to "IMAP" to the "On" position.
Step 2: Set up IMAP in Outlook
- Open Outlook and go to "File" > "Add Account".
- Select "Manual setup or additional server types" and click "Next".
- Select "Internet Email" and click "Next".
- Enter the following settings:
- Your Name: Your name as you want it to appear in the From field.
- Email Address: Your Outlook.com email address.
- Account Type: IMAP.
- Incoming mail server: imap-mail.outlook.com
- Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp-mail.outlook.com
- User Name: Your Outlook.com email address.
- Password: Your Outlook.com password.
- Click "Next" and then "Finish".
Step 3: Configure IMAP settings
- In Outlook, go to "File" > "Account Settings" > "Account Settings".
- Select your Outlook.com account and click "Change".
- In the "Change Account" window, click on the "More Settings" button.
- In the "Internet Email Settings" window, click on the "Advanced" tab.
- Under "Incoming mail", enter the following settings:
- Server: imap-mail.outlook.com
- Port: 993
- Encryption: SSL/TLS
- Under "Outgoing mail", enter the following settings:
- Server: smtp-mail.outlook.com
- Port: 587
- Encryption: TLS
- Click "OK" to close the "Internet Email Settings" window.
- Click "OK" to close the "Change Account" window.
That's it! Your Hotmail (Outlook.com) account should now be set up in Outlook using IMAP.
