Hotmail imap settings outlook

To set up Hotmail (now Outlook.com) in Outlook using IMAP, follow these steps:

Step 1: Enable IMAP in Outlook.com

  1. Log in to your Outlook.com account.
  2. Click on the gear icon in the top right corner and select "View all Outlook settings".
  3. Scroll down to the "Accounts" section and click on "Connected accounts".
  4. Toggle the switch next to "IMAP" to the "On" position.

Step 2: Set up IMAP in Outlook

  1. Open Outlook and go to "File" > "Add Account".
  2. Select "Manual setup or additional server types" and click "Next".
  3. Select "Internet Email" and click "Next".
  4. Enter the following settings:
    • Your Name: Your name as you want it to appear in the From field.
    • Email Address: Your Outlook.com email address.
    • Account Type: IMAP.
    • Incoming mail server: imap-mail.outlook.com
    • Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp-mail.outlook.com
    • User Name: Your Outlook.com email address.
    • Password: Your Outlook.com password.
  5. Click "Next" and then "Finish".

Step 3: Configure IMAP settings

  1. In Outlook, go to "File" > "Account Settings" > "Account Settings".
  2. Select your Outlook.com account and click "Change".
  3. In the "Change Account" window, click on the "More Settings" button.
  4. In the "Internet Email Settings" window, click on the "Advanced" tab.
  5. Under "Incoming mail", enter the following settings:
    • Server: imap-mail.outlook.com
    • Port: 993
    • Encryption: SSL/TLS
  6. Under "Outgoing mail", enter the following settings:
    • Server: smtp-mail.outlook.com
    • Port: 587
    • Encryption: TLS
  7. Click "OK" to close the "Internet Email Settings" window.
  8. Click "OK" to close the "Change Account" window.

That's it! Your Hotmail (Outlook.com) account should now be set up in Outlook using IMAP.
