Hotmail pop3 configuration

Here are the steps to configure Hotmail (now Outlook.com) using POP3:

Note: Hotmail no longer supports POP3 access by default, but you can still use it by enabling POP3 access in your Outlook.com account settings.

Step 1: Enable POP3 access in Outlook.com

  1. Sign in to your Outlook.com account.
  2. Click on the gear icon () in the top right corner and select "View all Outlook settings".
  3. Click on "Mail" and then "Accounts".
  4. Click on "POP and IMAP" and toggle the switch to "On" for "POP3".
  5. Click "Save" to save the changes.

Step 2: Configure your email client

  1. Open your email client (e.g. Microsoft Outlook, Mozilla Thunderbird, etc.).
  2. Create a new account or edit an existing one.
  3. Enter the following settings:
    • Server: pop.outlook.com
    • Port: 995 (or 110 if your client doesn't support SSL/TLS)
    • Username: Your Outlook.com email address (e.g. [yourname]@outlook.com)
    • Password: Your Outlook.com password
    • Authentication: Use the same authentication method as your Outlook.com account (e.g. username and password, or OAuth)
  4. Click "Next" or "Finish" to complete the setup.
