How rto recall back a mail wrongly sent in gmail

The frustration of accidentally sending an email!

In Gmail, there is no built-in feature to recall an email once it's been sent. However, there are a few workarounds to try and recover from the mistake:

  1. Unsend email (limited time frame): If you act quickly, you can try to unsend the email within a short period after sending it. Gmail has a feature called "Undo Send" that allows you to retract an email within a few seconds of sending it. To enable this feature:
    • Go to your Gmail settings (gear icon) > See all settings.
    • Scroll down to the "General" tab.
    • Look for the "Undo Send" option and toggle it on.
    • Set the time frame for which you want to be able to unsend emails (e.g., 5, 10, 15, or 30 seconds).
    • Save your changes.
    • Once you've sent the email, you'll see an "Undo" button in the top right corner of the compose window. Click it within the set time frame to retract the email.
  2. Mark as "Unread": If you can't unsend the email, you can try marking it as "Unread" to make it appear as if it was never read. This won't delete the email, but it can help you avoid responding to it or making it seem like you didn't send it by mistake.
    • Log in to your Gmail account and find the email you want to recall.
    • Click the checkbox next to the email to select it.
    • Click the "More" menu (three vertical dots) and select "Mark as Unread".
  3. Delete the email: If you're unable to unsend or mark the email as "Unread", you can try deleting it. This will remove the email from your inbox, but it may still be visible to the recipient if they've already read it.
    • Log in to your Gmail account and find the email you want to recall.
    • Click the checkbox next to the email to select it.
    • Click the "Trash" button (or press the "Delete" key) to move the email to the Trash folder.
  4. Send a follow-up email: If you've already sent the email and can't recall it, you can try sending a follow-up email to clarify or correct any mistakes. This can help prevent any misunderstandings or miscommunications.

Remember that once an email is sent, it's out of your control, and there's always a risk that it may be read or responded to by the recipient. To avoid accidental sends in the future, consider using a browser extension like "Undo Send" or "Email Recall" that can help you retract emails within a set time frame.
